Close your eyes and picture the volunteers in your county Farm Bureau who really invest in the next generation of young ag leaders.
Who comes to mind?
A lot of the time their investments are channeled through the county 4-H program, and just as often these vital people receive little recognition. MFB’s Excellence in Agriculture Award is a great way for your county Farm Bureau to recognize these crucially important volunteers.
The 4-H Excellence in Agriculture Award recognizes 4-H volunteers for their achievements and contributions to the 4-H program. It’s funded by Michigan Farm Bureau’s 4-H Excellence in Agriculture Endowment Fund to recognize volunteers — or groups — who have exhibited excellence in 4-H youth education and leadership development in the areas of 4-H beef cattle; dairy cattle; goats; horses; horticulture, crops and soils; poultry; rabbits; sheep; swine; and veterinary science.
Award recipients get a $1,000 grant to a 4-H agriculture program of their choice, for use toward volunteer training, purchasing supplies and curriculum materials, or to enhance 4-H agricultural programming locally or statewide.
To learn more about the MFB 4-H Excellence in Agriculture Award and nominate a deserving volunteer visit the Michigan 4-H Foundation website. Nominations are due March 15.
