Cornhole for Hunger Tournament coming soon

Date Posted: July 25, 2024

The Young Farmers of Jackson County Farm Bureau invites the public to join them on Saturday, August 9th for their 11th annual Cornhole for Hunger Tournament in their strive to end hunger in Jackson County.

Held during Jackson County’s fair week, the tournament will take place roughly at 11:00am at the Livestock Arena (following the beef cow show) at Jackson County Fairgrounds. Each participant receives lunch and a t-shirt. There are three age groups: 8-12 years, 13-17 years, and 18 years and older. Registration will begin in front of the arena at 10:00am. The cost to play is $15 per person, cash only.

The first-place winners of each age group will receive a collapsible wagon decaled with the Platinum Sponsor’s logo. Second place winners of each age group will receive a backpack cooler decaled with Jackson County Farm Bureau’s logo. Third place winners of each age group will receive meat sticks from Sanford Family Beef.

All proceeds are used to purchase livestock from the 4-H large animal auction which is then processed and sent to local food pantries in the Jackson area.

Each year, local businesses support the event to be a part of cause. We would like to thank our sponsors, many of which have been proud supporters since this program began in 2013, who have helped raise over 6,000 pounds of meat for the community.

The Agent Charitable Funds serve as a fund for Farm Bureau agents, clients, and partners to contribute to charitable causes throughout Michigan. A matching program, these dollars supported half the cost of hogs purchased at the Jackson County Fair 4-H large animal auction and processing fees. Learn more here
