Farm Bureau members across the Saginaw Valley this fall have been busy serving lunch to hungry farmers.
Isabella County Farm Bureau teamed up with MSU Extension for “Friday for Farmers,” sponsored by GreenStone Farm Credit Services.
On a pair of rainy days at Star of the West locations in Shepherd and Rosebush, some 100 farmers enjoyed a complimentary lunch of hot dogs, soup and dessert.
The Saginaw County Farm Bureau and two of its Farm Bureau Insurance agents fed farmers — and provided copies of MFB’s Transportation Guidebook — as they came through the scale line after delivering their crops. Agent Megan Beldyga organized the event at The Andersons facility in Hemlock, followed by agent Nick Sanderson at The Andersons in Oakley.
In late October, Gratiot County Farm Bureau’s annual Feed-a-Farmer event delivered 100 meals donated by Apple’s Country Catering to as many members across the county. Wet conditions meant fewer in-field deliveries than usual, but county Farm Bureau volunteers pivoted smoothly to Plan B and took care of growers busy this time of year regardless.
