Farm Bureau members from Tuscola, Huron, Bay and Sanilac counties were recently appointed by Gov. Gretchen Whitmer to serve on the Michigan Bean Commission. The commission’s primary objectives are research and promotion, supporting more than 1,100 growers and agribusiness associates dedicated to delivering the highest quality dry beans to consumers.
The individuals appointed to serve through Dec. 31, 2027, include:
- Chris Creguer (Tuscola County Farm Bureau), of Unionville, is a territory manager for Pioneer Seed and serves as trade policy advisory team chair for the U.S. Grains Council. He holds a bachelor’s degree in animal science and agricultural business from MSU and a master’s degree in agronomy and crop science from Iowa State University. Creguer is appointed to represent District 3 growers, succeeding fellow Tuscola County Farm Bureau member Greg Ackerman.
- Allen Bischer (Huron County Farm Bureau), of Minden City, is the owner of Gentner Bischer Farms. A past parish council president at St. Peter and Paul Church, he has participated in U.S. Dry Bean Council trade missions. Bischer is reappointed to represent District 5 growers.
- Neil French (Bay County Farm Bureau), of Munger, is a grower relations manager at Edible Bean Specialties Inc. He is licensed in pesticide application and holds a bachelor's in elevator management from MSU. French is reappointed to represent processors, shippers, and handlers.
- Mark Shaw (Sanilac County Farm Bureau), of Marlette, is the co-owner of Allen K Shaw Inc., alongside his father, Steve Shaw. He holds an associate's degree in crop and soils business management from St. Clair Community College. Shaw is appointed to represent District 4 growers, succeeding fellow Sanilac County Farm Bureau member Clinton Stoutenburg.

- Jessica Rader, a Montcalm County Farm Bureau member from Lakeview
- Stephen Ewald, a Tuscola County Farm Bureau member from Unionville
- Ted Bauer, from Reese
- Chase Voelker, from Pigeon
