Optional Coverage for Michigan Drivers
Farm Bureau Insurance offers optional coverages that can reimburse drivers for rental, replacement, or travel expenses. These options are available with a Personal Auto Insurance policy.
Rental reimbursement coverage is only available on private passenger autos, pickups, and vans. Limit options of $30, $50, or $100 per day are available to cover the rental fee expense. Coverage is provided for a maximum period of 30 days.
Vehicle(s) may be endorsed to provide reimbursement for the rental of a substitute auto from a car rental agency or garage. The original auto must be unusable for more than 24 hours due to a loss (Comprehensive or Collision).
Replacement Cost coverage pays for the cost of a new auto of the same make and model, with similar equipment as the damaged vehicle (if available). Losses caused by fire, theft or larceny, or vandalism will be settled at actual cash value.
Coverage is only available to the original owner of vehicles that are less than 3 model years old. After the vehicle exceeds 3 model years, Replacement Cost will automatically be removed. Replacement Cost is not available to leased vehicles.
Travel Interruption Reimbursements
This policy may be endorsed to provide an expense allowance up to $600 per occurrence after a covered loss (Comprehensive or Collision) that occurs more than 100 miles from home. The covered vehicle must be unusable for more than 24 hours.
The allowance will pay for reasonable expenses incurred for:
- Commercial or public transportation
- Lodging
- Meals
Coverage is limited to the period of time reasonable to resume travel under a prearranged itinerary and/or return home.
