I grew up in Grand Ledge, not too far from MFB home office. After graduating high school, I headed slightly east to Michigan State University — GO GREEN! — where I studied advertising, graphic design and public relations. Today, I live here in Delta Township (also not far from home office) with my husband Brad and our cat, Captain.
Before joining the Farm Bureau team, my only connection to agriculture was through agritourism — and of course my love of food! As a child, I enjoyed visiting the Lansing City Market, picking summer strawberries at a local u-pick farm and visiting Country Mill outside Charlotte for cider and donuts. Aside from those experiences, I had very little connection to agriculture.
But time passes and…
Early in my tenure here I was designing a flyer for a county Farm Bureau event. They wanted an image of a beef cow included. I didn’t know the difference and used what I thought was a good image — a cute black and white Holstein!
What I’ll never forget is how kind the CAM was in explaining why my photo wouldn’t work, then helping teach me about the differences.
Because of the countless Farm Bureau members and staff who have been so willing to help me learn about Michigan farms and food, today I can say my connection to agriculture is much stronger!
As the manager of the Print and Digital Design Services Department, my team and I serve members by creating marketing materials to promote Farm Bureau programs, activities and events. It’s our job to help turn our members’ ideas into reality through visual communications.
Outside Farm Bureau, I spend most of my time at my hometown dance studio, Rising Star. After being a student there throughout my childhood, I returned as an instructor in 2016. I look forward to teaching ballet, jazz and tap to students ages 5-10 in our upcoming season, along with taking a few adult dance classes for fun. I also enjoy traveling, sports and spending time with friends and family.
