It’s no secret the Osceola County Farm Bureau is passionate about politics. Members gathered June 18 for fellowship over, a delicious pasta dinner and conversation about legislative issues with lawmakers and Michigan Farm Bureau Public Policy Director Matt Smego.
Legislators in attendance were Dist. 35 State Senator Curt Vanderwall, Dist. 102 Rep. Michele Hoitenga, and Luke Derheim from the office of Dist. 4 U.S. Congressman John Moolenaar.
“It takes a team to put on events like this that make a difference and help members feel like they’ve been heard,” said Sandy Keller, Osceola County Farm Bureau’s membership captain. “Our team is looking forward to many more informational activities in the future.
“We have a lot of work ahead us, but our growing enthusiasm is strong,” she added. “We want to make a difference, and we plan on doing that by building our membership by providing quality events.”
The pasta dinner created and contributed by Osceola members Roxi and Chelsea Erler brought in close to 30 members — including several new to Farm Bureau involvement — and altogether attendees raised nearly $200 for Harvest for All!
Farm Bureau Crop Insurance Specialist Brenda Szach and her team underwrote door prizes and made it possible to give away a coveted YETI-brand cooler.
