On Tuesday, Aug. 8, local elections will be held in 49 Michigan counties. MFB Government Relations Specialist Matt Kapp reminds county Farm Bureau members of the importance of voting in local elections.
“Local elections can be easy to forget, but they’re no less important than a statewide election,” Kapp said. “It’s your opportunity to weigh in on school proposals and municipal-related measures.
“If we want the best for our farms, families and rural communities we can’t miss even the smallest of opportunities to influence the outcome.”
Information regarding voting absentee, polling hours and locations, and voter registration status is available on the Secretary of State’s Michigan Voter Information Center.
New voters can register up until 8 p.m. on Election Day at your city or township clerk’s office. Learn more at Michigan.gov/Vote.
