Emmet County Farm Bureau worked with Michigan State University Extension and Michigan Farm Bureau (MFB) to hold an educational event April 6 for area winemakers.
Aiming to help build a better support system for local wineries, the day included presentations on several wine-sector priorities.
MFB’s Tess Van Gorder spoke on groundwater discharge permitting and MSU Extension’s Esmaeil Nasrollahiazar addressed vineyard management.
A lunch was provided courtesy of sponsorship from Brenda Szach, Farm Bureau Crop Insurance Specialist, and included an educational winetasting program.
Overall the event was a big hit with attendees and there are already talks of reprising the event in the near future.
