The Farm Bureau Family of Companies, comprised of Michigan Farm Bureau and its affiliates including Farm Bureau Insurance of Michigan and the Agent Charitable Fund, announced a major partnership with Detroit’s historical Eastern Market. This new sponsorship will help further the goal of building a healthier, more prosperous Detroit.
Farm Bureau is Michigan’s voice for agriculture and insures more farmland in the state than any other insurance provider. This new endeavor with the Eastern Market Partnership furthers Farm Bureau’s core mission of working on behalf Michigan farmers.
“We are proud to join up with the Eastern Market Partnership,” said Carl Bednarski, President of the Farm Bureau Family of Companies. “The Eastern Market recognizes the importance of the farmer and their ability to provide fresh, healthy food grown right here in Michigan. Likewise, for 100 years, we have served Michigan farmers and the state’s incredibly diverse agricultural community. This partnership is an exciting new way to continue in that tradition.”
As part of the partnership, Farm Bureau will be the summer sponsor of the Market and presenting sponsor of its annual Harvest Gala. Farm Bureau’s contribution will help support Eastern Market’s work in accessing fresh food, developing food entrepreneurs, and the continued enhancement of the overall experience of the public market.
In addition, Farm Bureau’s Agent Charitable Fund, whose mission is to end hunger in Michigan, will participate by supporting a community pop-up market serving various Detroit neighborhoods. The Fund is a donor advised fund for Farm Bureau agents, clients, and partners to contribute to charitable causes throughout Michigan. The fund grants monies to provide food, build agriculture awareness, educate and help citizens throughout the state.
“Over the last 128 years Eastern Market has helped households in southeast Michigan connect with the rich bounty produced by Michigan farmers,” said Dan Carmody, President of Eastern Market. He added, “This new collaboration will enable Eastern Market to better serve growers and consumers as we work with Farm Bureau to nourish a healthier, wealthier, and happier Michigan.”
