Last year we were pleased to grant $12,250 to two FFA chapters: to the brand new Sparta FFA chapter to help them start their program, and to the Lowell FFA to help them expand their first grade chick program. We also handed out scholarships to two Kent County students pursuing higher education. This is an integral part of our mission to is to proactively secure the future of agriculture through promotion, community enhancement, and public education.
Scholarships and grants are available for up to $10,000, as determined by Kent County Farm Bureau Board of Directors. The 2024-2025 application process closes on August 1, 2025.
SCHOLARSHIP: Any Kent County resident who is a high school senior enrolled in an institution of higher education, or who is currently attending a vocational, 2-year, or 4-year study program may apply. Preference will be given to Kent County Farm Bureau members and dependents of members, as well as to those studying agriscience, and those studying in Michigan. Involvement in community service, 4-H, FFA, Young Farmers, or agriculture-related work experience is a plus. Applicants must
• have a GPA of 3.0 or above
• provide a reference letter either from a Kent County Farm Bureau voting member or a person in an agriculture-related field.
Awardees must attend either a Board of Directors meeting (third Wednesdays 7:00pm) or the County Annual Meeting in September to receive the funds.
