Former State Representative and past Antrim County Farm Bureau President Triston Cole has earned the “Friend of Agriculture” designation and endorsement from AgriPac in the race for Michigan’s 37th Senate District.
The newly-redrawn district includes Antrim, Charlevoix, Cheboygan, Emmet, Grand Traverse, and Leelanau Counties and portions of Chippewa and Mackinac County.
In addition to his experience serving as a State Representative in the 105th district for six years, Cole has a long history of involvement with the Michigan Farm Bureau, including serving on the state Young Farmer and Policy Development committees.
“Since I ran for office the first time in 2010, I have remained committed to working on agricultural issues and helping producers be effective with policy makers,” Cole wrote in his AgriPac State candidate questionnaire, used by county Candidate Evaluation Committees.
“I have an extensive background and understanding of agricultural issues and have worked to pass multiple pieces of legislation into law before I was elected to office, during my time in office and since leaving elected office. I also have a broad understanding of Michigan Farm Bureau through personal experience.”
Cole and his wife own a small farm where they grow U-pick raspberries and have grown many varieties of fruits and vegetables for their roadside market for more than 20 years.
He said his top priorities include being an effective advocate for citizens and business owners in the district and advocating for “common-sense agriculture policy,” adding he has the experience and existing relationships to get things done “day one.”
