Build a season of Michigan memories

Date Posted: July 29, 2021

Summer is a time for making memories and having fun, but it can be a little intimidating to know just where to start. That’s why we compiled a list of activities here in our great state to get your children on the road to a fun summer.

Agritourism

From farm markets to corn mazes, Michigan’s countryside is filled with fun. You can sample wine made with grapes from the ground you stand on or pick your fill of apples, cherries, strawberries or blueberries. When it comes to agricultural fun, there’s no place like home. Visit michiganfarmfun.com for the handy Michigan Farm Fun agritourism directory.

Amusement parks

Looking for some thrills? Michigan has plenty of options to fill your need. Check out Michigan’s Adventure, Great Wolf Lodge water park, Craig’s Cruisers or Nelis’ Dutch Village.

Zoos

Animals lovers, look no further. Visit one of the many zoos in Michigan like the Detroit Zoo, John Ball Zoo, Bolder Ridge, Deer Tracks Junction or Potter Park Zoo.

Beaches

With thousands of miles of shoreline, Michigan is not lacking on the beach front. Some options include Grand Haven, Hoffmaster, Oscoda, Empire, Saugatuck or Tiscornia.

Silver Lake Sand Dunes

The perfect mix of chill and thrill! At the Silver Lake Sand Dunes, your family can relax at the beach and enjoy a dune buggy ride in the same day. Check out Mac Wood’s Dune Rides for a one-of-a-kind dune tour.

Camp out

Experience the joy of camping underneath the beautiful Michigan sky. Some options include Ludington State Park and Campground, Traverse City KOA Holiday or Michigan Oaks Camping Resort.

Bike trails

Enjoy the beauty of nature from the seat of your bike. Michigan is home to several bike trails that allow you to do just that. Check out Pere Marquette State Trail, Bridge To Bay Trail, Lake Shore Bike Trail or Milford Trail.

Explore islands

Michigan offers several islands hidden within the waters of our Great Lakes, including Mackinac, Isle Royale, Beaver and South Manitou islands.

Water sports

Enjoy action on the water of Michigan’s many lakes. Try out Michigan Flyboarding, Wave Club Water Sports, or Aussie Watersports for some water thrills!

Your own backyard

At the end of the day, it’s the people you spend time with that matters, not the location. Sometimes, the best memories can be made in your own backyard! Whether it’s roasting marshmallows over a campfire or enjoying a yard game of cornhole, get on the road to many memories this summer!
