A 15-member cross section of Clinton County Farm Bureau volunteers successfully completed their mission July 9 to ensure agriculture was represented at the 2021 Elsie Dairy Festival. Members of two of the county’s Community Action Groups — the Maple River Rowdies and the Rowdy Sprouts — teamed up to provide a children’s fun tent complete with a miniature petting farm, corn box play area, a pair of interactive (wooden) milking cows and of course vouchers for free ice cream.
Farm Bureau members brought several manageable-sized livestock representatives for festival-goers to interact with up close. Chickens, rabbits, ducks and a young calf were all on display, as well as a pair of Nigerian Dwarf Goats accompanied by “Goat Mom” Darla Ladinski.
Throughout the course of the day more than 250 visitors made their way through the exhibit, interacted a bit with some feathered and furry friends, learned a little about agriculture and made a beeline for the ice cream!
Look for more about members’ involvement from Clinton County CAM Hanna Dutcher, coming in the September Community Action Group newsletter.
