Duane Simpkins of Gladwin, Michigan received the Farm Bureau Insurance Elton R. Smith Award at the company’s Multi-Line Marketing Convention February 20th in Traverse City. For Simpkins, also an active member of the Michigan agriculture community, this award serves as the culmination of over 28 years of decorated service as a Farm Bureau Insurance agent.
The Elton R. Smith Award honors a Farm Bureau Insurance agent who best exhibits commitment to their job, community, the insurance industry, and the Michigan Farm Bureau Family of Companies. It pays tribute to former Michigan Farm Bureau President Elton R. Smith, whose impact on his community and the Farm Bureau organization remains a legacy.
As an insurance agent, Simpkins comes highly recommended by his clients and peers alike for his commitment to providing outstanding service, no matter the time or effort it takes. This has resulted in fourteen years of recognition as an “All-American” level Farm Bureau Insurance Agent, with four years placing at the “Executive Club” level.
Simpkins has not allowed his successful career as an agent to impact his role supporting young farmers and fellow insurance professionals. Having participated in the Gladwin County Farm Bureau and the Gladwin Fair Board Livestock Committee, Simpkins has served in a number of official and unofficial leadership roles, sponsoring helpful efforts including clinics to help young members of the agriculture community prepare for the show ring. In addition to these efforts, Simpkins regularly makes time to help his fellow insurance agents, sharing knowledge, methods, and assets that have aided in his successful service of those trusting him with their insurance needs.
