More than 147 Farm Bureau Insurance agents and volunteers received Key Club awards on Dec. 4 during Michigan Farm Bureau’s 105th State Annual Meeting in Grand Rapids.

Key Club recipients sign up five or more Farm Bureau regular members in a membership year. A regular member is defined as someone involved in production agriculture.

Since 1982, Key Club agents and volunteers have written thousands of new farmer members into the organization. This past year, agents and volunteers brought in 2,258 new regular members.

“It's the dedication and commitment of our members that is essential to our success,” said Stephanie Schafer, District 5 Director on the Michigan Farm Bureau Board of Directors.

“Whether it’s community action groups or county boards, Project RED volunteers or Candidate Evaluation Committees, our members drive the purpose of Michigan Farm Bureau. Last year, our organization saw regular member growth for the fifth year in a row — something that hasn’t happened in 17 years. For the fifth year in a row, we ended the membership year hitting target, growing our farmer members. This is truly a testament to the hard work of you, our members.

“This past year’s growth would not have been possible without the work of Farm Bureau Insurance agents and volunteers who have helped bring new, regular members into our organization,” Schafer continued.

“This key group of membership writers helped make regular member growth possible.”

Total regular membership hit 215,886 in 2023-24, up from 204,465 the previous year.
