Missaukee County Farm Bureau’s recent Family Fun Night at the county agricultural youth show saw a great turnout for its inaugural cornhole tournament, scavenger hunt and cupcake appreciation event.
“We had such a great time putting these two events on at the youth show this year,” said Missaukee P&E Chair Ellen Vanderwal. “Everyone involved had fun — lots of laughter and smiles!”

Elementary-age and younger children enjoyed a commodity scavenger hunt, with some assistance from middle-schoolers.
“It was great to see the older children lend a hand to the younger ones,” Vanderwal said. “We were very pleased with the turnout for both the events.

Sixteen teams competed in the inaugural cornhole tournament, vying for a pair of Amazon Fire tablets donated by the Missaukee County Farm Bureau.
Runners-up took home a variety of prizes donated by regional farm businesses.
“I called a variety of ag businesses for donations. They were all happy to donate prizes and giveaways,” Vanderwal said.
“Everyone who participated received something — no one was left out!”
Staff from the Emington-Schultz Farm Bureau Insurance Agency of Cadillac were also on hand helping out and had a drawing for a basket full of goodies.
“The evening was so much fun,” Vanderwal said. “Watching everyone have a good time and enjoying the activities was great!”
