Farm Bureau members across District 9 are getting acquainted with a new face as winter leans into spring, that of new Northwest Regional Manager Kelsee Steenwyk.

Since Jan. 31 Steenwyk has been getting to know the region comprised by the county Farm Bureaus of Benzie-Manistee, Mason, Missaukee, Northwest Michigan and Wexford.

Neither the territory nor the organization are exactly foreign; she most recently worked as office manager for Shooks Farms in Central Lake while also chairing Promotion & Education for the Antrim County Farm Bureau. At Shooks Farms she shouldered accounting, reporting, payroll and compliance for the cherry operation’s four separate companies.

In her new role as regional manager Steenwyk will serve members as a liaison between county and state Farm Bureau organizations, facilitating programs and involvement in all program areas, from consumer outreach and leadership development to policy development and community services efforts.

Prior to graduating from Michigan State with her degree in agribusiness management, the Holly native did crop scouting and production management work.

Outside of work she enjoys time with family, horseback riding, hunting and spending time on the water.
