With Fourth of July right around the corner, there will soon be fireworks lighting up our night sky. Enjoy these beautiful shows with peace of mind. Considering these tips can help assure your safety during your Fourth of July celebrations:
1. Pre-show
- Research the firework regulations in your community and find out if fireworks are legal
- Carefully read firework instructions and follow them accordingly
- Set up in an area that is a safe distance from homes, barns or other structures
- Place a bucket of water or fire extinguisher close by
2. Show
- Do not stand over and place body parts over fireworks when lighting
- Light one firework at a time
- Do not try to re-light a firework that did not ignite the first time
- Do not let children light fireworks
- Keep the audience a safe distance from the lighting zone throughout show
3. Post-show
- Dump water over fireworks before disposing of them
