More than 25 Farm Bureau members joined a virtual training session last month, CDL Rules Impacting Agriculture, to learn about changes impacting agriculture.
Hosted by Jackson County Farm Bureau as a membership activity, members from Hillsdale, Calhoun, Lenawee and Branch counties were also invited as a collaborative effort across District 2.
Jackson County Membership Captain Jake Faist welcomed everyone to the meeting and promptly turned things over to Craig Anderson, Michigan Farm Bureau’s ag labor and safety services specialist. Anderson covered several topics including load requirements and securement, exceptions, endorsement differences, labeling and more.
After the meeting several members shared feedback emphasizing that the session was not only a great refresher, but that it brought great awareness to the liability that can exist if you don’t stay current on regulatory updates regarding lighting, signage and load limits. Other comments suggested more in-depth discussion of load limits and strategies for legal hauling.
The program was recorded, and members unable to attend in person can contact their county Farm Bureau for a link. Jackson County members can call 517-784-9166 or email [email protected].
