It is time for the Discussion Meet season to begin!
The first District 4 (which is Kent, Ottawa, Allegan, Barry, and Ionia counties) Young Farmer Discussion Meet is on Wednesday, April 4, at 6:30pm at the Orchards at Red Barn (3550 Alden Nash Ave. NE, Lowell MI).
The topic this year:
Farmers and ranchers are at the forefront of environmental stewardship. From soil health to local ecosystems, producers are concerned about how to be both environmentally and financially sustainable. How can farmers and ranchers effectively advance environmental stewardship while balancing the needs of their farms?
Discussion Meets are designed to mimic a policy discussion meeting. The goal is to collaboratively come to good solutions to the question at hand--while subtly guiding the discussion through your insights, knowledge, and ideas. This is a great opportunity for young adults in agriculture (age 18-35) to meet others who share their passion for ag, to share their good ideas, and to have a fun night out at a great location. There's also the opportunity to move on to State and then National Discussion Meets where there are some great prizes. For more information (and to explore alternate topic questions), go here: DISCUSSION MEETS.
