‘Make-N-Take’ guidebook now available for P&E outreach

Just in time for outreach season, your Promotion & Education team at MFB is excited to announce the Make-N-Take guidebook, a handy (and free) resource for county Farm Bureau P&E efforts.

Project RED, fair and festival planning season is here — or just around the corner — for many of our county Farm Bureaus, meaning it’s time to start planning engaging activities that highlight Michigan agriculture. Just in time, your Promotion & Education support team in Lansing is excited to announce the release of a brand-new resource: the Make-N-Take guidebook!

This new resource is a handy guide for offering quick hands-on activities at fairs, farmers markets, community events and Projects RED.

The Michigan Ag in the Classroom website offers a wealth of educational content, but oftentimes the lesson plans are designed for a more in-depth lesson that are hard to use at tabling events. These events often require something simpler — fun, hands-on activities that can quickly connect the public with agriculture.

The Make-N-Take Guidebook fills that gap, offering quick, low-cost, high-impact activities perfect for on-the-go outreach.

Inside you’ll find activities like Edible Soil, Dirt Babies, Growing Bracelets, Wheat Exploration and more! Each activity includes:

  • Michigan agriculture facts
  • Materials list
  • Easy-to-follow instructions
  • Age-appropriate discussion questions
  • Links to deeper lesson plans from the Ag in the Classroom matrix

Whether you’re planning for a school event or looking to enhance your booth at the local fair, this resource is perfect for creating memorable agricultural experiences.

The Make-N-Take Guidebook is available at no cost on the Michigan Ag in the Classroom store. County Farm Bureau P&E chairs can also download the resource from the P&E Sharepoint; just drop us an e-mail to request access

So, if you’re looking for a quick, fun, and educational activity to promote Michigan agriculture, this is the resource for you!
