Farm Bureau Insurance announced that Travis Lower has been appointed vice president of investments and chief investment officer position for the Farm Bureau Insurance Companies. In his new role, Travis will be responsible for management of all Investment Division activities, including managing the cash and investment assets of all Farm Bureau Insurance Companies.
“Travis brings a wealth of professional experience as well as firsthand knowledge of Farm Bureau to his new position,” said Farm Bureau Insurance Chief Executive Officer Don Simon. “We look forward to his continued contributions as he joins the Executive Team.”
Travis will begin serving as vice president of investments and chief investment officer April 1, 2021, and will work with current CIO David Baker in a transitional period until David’s retirement date of May 31, 2021.
Travis began his career with Farm Bureau Insurance in 2012 as an investment analyst, he was promoted in 2014 to assistant portfolio manager and to portfolio manager and senior portfolio manager in 2015 and 2018 respectively. Prior to joining Farm Bureau Insurance, Travis worked with Plante Moran, a Southfield-based accounting firm, where he served as an investment research analyst, and American Express Financial Advisors.
Travis holds two degrees from the University of Michigan – a Bachelor of Science in psychology and applied statistics as well as a Master of Business Administration in finance. He has also earned the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA), Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU), and Associate in Insurance Accounting and Finance (AIAF) designations.
